On the night of Friday 8 November 2013, Typhoon Haiyan devastated much of the central islands of the Philippines. Following the acceptance of international assistance by the Philippine government, SDC has sent a team of 20 specialists and approximately 21 tonnes of aid to the affected area. During the emergency phase, materials brought or purchased locally were distributed through local authorities to the population in the affected areas with close monitoring by SDC.
