Summary
As a result of the South Ossetian conflict during 1989-1992, more than 100’000 people escaped to North Ossetia. In 2006 3’000 refugees, the most vulnerable ones, remained hardly integrated in collective centers. 90% prefer to remain in North Ossetia. The conflict in 2008 lead to a new wave of refugees and keeps the situation in North Ossetia precarious.Most vulnerable families get a durable housing situation and a chance for an autonomous live integrated in the local society.A hostel used as collective center situated in a central district of Vladikavkaz was rehabilitated as an apartment building for 58 families. All apartments are equipped with individual kitchens and bathrooms.
