Summary
In Pinga, a remote town in North Kivu (DR Congo), an existing road bridge over the Mweso River was replaced and complemented by additional pedestrian bridges. Under challenging political, logistical, and technical conditions, a robust single-lane reinforced concrete arch bridge with separated traffic flows was realized. The project demonstrates how context-sensitive design and local collaboration can enable sustainable infrastructure in fragile environments.
